what totalico is
A simple way to split shared costs with friends, family or housemates — across any currencies, without anyone needing an account.
why we built it
Group expense apps usually demand that every person sign up, install something, or join a network just to enter their dinner share. We wanted the opposite: a tool you can hand someone with one link, where they can immediately read the balances and add what they paid.
totalico treats the group link itself as the access key. Anyone who has the link can read and edit the group. There's no login wall, no inviting, no “waiting for them to sign up”. If you'd rather keep a private list of your groups across devices, you can optionally sign in — but the people you split with never have to.
what it does well
- Multi-currency natively. Add a Lisbon dinner in EUR and a taxi in USD in the same group. Balances convert at the current FX rate.
- Splits that match real life. Equal, exact amounts, percentages, or weighted shares — for when one person ordered the lobster.
- Settle in the fewest transfers. The settle-up flow compresses everyone's debts into the smallest possible number of payments.
- No tracking-heavy SDKs. No third-party analytics, no ad networks, no “share to social” pixels.
- Free. No paywalled features.
