privacy policy

in short

totalico tries to collect as little as possible. We store the data you type into a group (member names, expenses, settlements) and standard server logs. We do not run third-party analytics, advertising, or social-media trackers.

what we store

• Group data you enter: group name, member display names, expenses, settlements, and the per-group settings you configure. This is stored in our database so the group works.
• Account data (only if you sign in): when you choose to sign in, we keep the list of groups you've saved under your account so they show up under my groups across devices. Sign-in is optional — the people you split with never need an account.
• Server logs: our hosting provider records standard request metadata such as IP address, user-agent and timestamp for security, anti-abuse, and operational purposes.
• Local preferences: your device stores theme, last-used member, preferred display currency, and decimals preference in your browser's localStorage. These never leave your device unless you sign in.

what we don't do

• No advertising trackers, retargeting pixels, or cross-site identifiers.
• No Google Analytics, no Mixpanel, no marketing analytics.
• No selling, renting, or sharing of your data with marketers.
• No reading of your data for advertising or training.

analytics

We use a cookieless, privacy-friendly analytics service that helps us understand which pages are visited and roughly where traffic comes from. It does not set cookies, does not track you across other sites, and does not collect or store your IP address or any personal identifier.

access via the group link

Each group is reached via a long, hard-to-guess URL (a UUID). Anyone who has the link can read and edit the group — there is no other access control. Treat the link like a shared password and only share it with people who should have access.

deleting your data

You can delete individual expenses and settlements from inside a group. If you'd like a whole group removed, or your signed-in account data deleted, email us and we'll handle it.

changes

If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the date above. Continued use of the site after changes means you accept the updated policy.
